Course Overview
Explore the wonders of sensory development with our engaging, hands-on Sensorial workshop, designed for anyone passionate about supporting children’s cognitive growth and sensory refinement. Guided by fully qualified and dynamic Montessori trainers, you’ll gain practical experience with foundational Sensorial materials – learning how to present activities that sharpen perception across sight, touch, hearing, and smell.
Whether you’re an educator, parent, student, or simply curious about Montessori, this course offers a fresh, dynamic perspective on real-world learning – equipping you with practical tools and inspiration to help children organise and interpret the sensory world around them.
The Sensorial materials
Sensorial activities are at the heart of Montessori education, offering children structured, hands-on experiences that refine each of their senses with precision and joy. Through iconic materials such as the Pink Tower, Knobbed Cylinders, Colour Tablets, and Geometric Solids, children explore visual discrimination of size, shape, and colour. Sound Cylinders and Montessori Bells develop auditory discrimination and sensitivity to pitch and tone. Rough and smooth boards, Fabric Boxes, and Pressure Cylinders refine the tactile sense, while Smelling Bottles engage olfactory discrimination. These purposeful activities lay the essential groundwork for concentration, logical thinking, and scientific observation – preparing children not only for academic success but for a lifetime of careful, attentive interaction with the world around them.
This workshop will include opportunities to practice with the materials and to gain the practical knowledge to be able to present the materials in a Montessori Early Childhood Service.
