Course Overview

Unlock the foundations of language development with this hands-on, dynamic workshop focused on oral language, vocabulary enrichment, and early phonemic awareness. Designed for educators, parents, and students, this course explores the key Montessori materials and activities that support clear communication, careful listening, and the joyful discovery of sounds and words. Guided by experienced trainers, you’ll learn how to foster a love of language through purposeful conversations, games, and early alphabet work.

Whether you’re nurturing a toddler’s first words or guiding a preschooler towards literacy, this course equips you with practical tools and engaging strategies to build strong, confident communicators.

 

The Language Materials

Montessori language activities begin with the spoken word, recognising that a rich oral language environment is the foundation for literacy. In this course, you’ll explore the use of real objects, replicas, matching activities, and vocabulary cards to expand children’s understanding of the world. Expressive language games, songs, poems, and questioning activities ignite creativity and develop listening and speaking skills. The journey towards reading and writing begins with phonemic awareness activities like “I Spy” and the introduction of Sandpaper Letters, followed by playful work with the Large Movable Alphabet. Through these carefully sequenced activities, children build the phonetic, expressive, and imaginative skills that make reading and writing a joyful, natural extension of their everyday experiences.
