Our Montessori journey began in 2001 when our CEO, Vicki McKinnon, trained with the Australian Montessori Society under Mrs. Willemien Duyker-de-Vries, who herself had been mentored by Dr. Maria Montessori.

Mrs. Duyker-de-Vries founded the Montessori School in Kingsley, WA - the longest-running Montessori school in Australia. After her retirement, the courses were managed by others before being handed on to the Building Futures group, who continue the valuable work.

With over 15 years of experience training educators, Montessori & Early Childhood Training Australia (MECTA) – formerly Building Futures Education – has been a trusted leader in the industry since 2009.

Our journey began with the successful management of childcare centres, driven by a commitment to uphold the highest standards of education and training. This same commitment is at the heart of our rebranding as we proudly transitioned to MECTA in January 2025.
